Family Background:

Imane Ayissi was born on 7th June 1968 to a famous champion boxer of that time Jean Baptiste Ayissi Ntsama and Julienne Honorine Eyenga Ayissi who was crowned as first Cameroon in Africa after 1960. Imane Ayissi is a part of a family where recognized singers and artists were born. His other sisters and brothers are also choreographers and artists by profession.

Early Career:

In the beginning of his career, Imane Ayissi shifted to Paris, France in 1990. He started off his career by working as a trainee model for popular brands like Givenchy and Dior. In 2004, he established his own brand which proved to be a breakthrough for his career. The designs which were crafted and created by him reached the heights of fame when they were wore by famous celebrities such as Zendaya and Angela Bassett. Imane Ayissi also holds the honor of being the guest member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. He is also amongst the three designers and the only black designer who have displayed their pieces of art in Paris haute couture catwalk.

Early Work:
Initially, Imane Ayissi functioned as a model for luxurious pret clothes such as Dior, Lanvin and Valentino. He also collaborated with multiple fashion projects to accelerate his career. Due to his dedication and seeing his hard work, many photographers approached him themselves for fashion shoots. Above this all, he worked really hard to establish himself as a couturier and fashion designer. He started off by designing a set of garments for his mother and now he designs fashion articles for popular ateliers across Africa.

Collaboration with luxury brands:

After establishing himself as a renowned fashion designer across South Africa, Imane Ayissi started to collaborate with luxurious and expensive fashion brands in the state. He founded versatile dresses and fashion articles to display Swarovski ornamental jewellery. In 2004, he also collaborated with Carousel de Louvre to present their accessories along with his line of dresses. Imagemane Ayissis not only collaborated with high-end brands, he also collaborated with more reasonable and affording brands of that time such as La Redoute and Multiples.

Imane Ayissi’s work is a fusion of both western and traditional elements. His fashion articles represent an exotic western vibe as well as a subtle traditional African vibe.
